In a career spanning 50 years Martin Wragge has, as CEO of listed and unlisted entities, developed and/or re-developed more than 3,000,000 square metres of commercial, industrial, residential, leisure and retail space in South Africa and a further 2,000,000 square metres in China.

The above include more than 15 mid-rise office blocks, some 7,000 socia-economic houses, some 2,000 middle class homes, some 400 villas, 8,000 high rise apartments, the +/-50-hectare Cape Town International Airport Industrial Estate, more than 20 Shopping Centres, FOREST PARK Theme Park in Ningxia Province, China and RATANGA JUNCTION, Africa’s first fully fledged Theme Park in Cape Town.





The largest shopping centres are CANAL WALK SHOPPING CENTRE (135 000 square metres of gross lettable area (GLA), KISSWATER CENTRE Yinchuan, China (141,000 square metres of GLA) and TYGERVALLEY Bellville, Western Cape (87,000 square metres GLA).

In 2007 he was one of 50 foreigners awarded a gold medal by Prime Minister Wen Jiaboa for his contributions to the development of North West China.

He was Chairman and CEO of Monex Development Group of Companies from 1980 to 2001 (Monex was listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) in 1995), CEO of China Development Company Limited from 2002 to 2011, CEO and Chairman of both Leisure Retail Property Solutions UK Limited and Leisure Retail Property Solutions SA (Pty) Ltd from 2002 to 2014, a director of JSE listed Tradehold Limited from 2014 to 2017 and has been Chairman and CEO OF wholly owned Gritprop Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd since 1987 to present.
In 1987 Wragge produced the motion picture SURVIVOR and in 1989 Produced, Wrote and Directed THE LAST WARRIOR.






Current Projects…
In 2017 Gritprop engaged in joint development of Altona Residential Villages – five separate walled security estates – which on completion will feature some 1,967 residential plots/ houses and a convenience shopping centre in Worcester, South Africa. Some 200 houses were completed by the end of 2024 with a further 200 plots, 40 houses and a 26-Assisted Living Suites in a Care Centre in production for delivery by early 2026.
Wragge has also completed screenplays for DEATH RATTLE, five-part series, and A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE, a feature, both of which are currently under consideration by US Studios.
